What do I do when I get bored with this lame website? Here are links to the Mongolia related websites, inlcuding a few other of our fellow PCVs sites. Altai Crafts, an organization here in Olgii that works with local woman www.Altaicraft.com Adrian's site http://imageevent.com/amummey Travis and Shauna's website http://hlavka.net Anna's website http://www.annajan.com Carrie's website http://www.carrieinmongolia.blogspot.com/ An English Monglian online magazine http://www.mongliatoday.com When did you go to Mongolia? We left on June 9th, 2004, for LA, and arrived in Ulaan Baatar on June 12th via Seoul. When are you coming home already?? Our service ends July, 2006, but we plan to travel around for a couple of months before we head home. What are you doing in Mongolia? Josh is teaching English at the Olgii Teacher's College, Nicora is working in the Bayan-Olgii Health Department. Where are you living in Mongolia? We live in the occidental regions of Mongolia - namely Olgii city, Bayan-Olgii aimag. Our aimag borders China and Russia and is a stones throw away from Kazakhstan. In fact, the majority of the population here is Kazakh. We have a three room flat in a Soviet-era concrete apartment building. Check out the pictures of our swanky pad in the photo album! Can we come and visit you? Yes, please do! We can serve as travel agents if you get really serious :) Travel is possible any time of year, though not recommended during the unnaturally cold months of October through April - the highlights include the Naadam festival in July, and the Eagle Festival in early October. Can we send you stuff? Only if you want us to love you forever! Check out the Contact page for more details. Things that are nice: any food with flavor (i.e. anything but MUTTON), coffee, peanut butter, tea, movies, music, books, pictures, candy... Can we call you? We love phone calls - and both have cell phones! We are 15 hours ahead of the west coast. You'll find our numbers on the Contact page. Uh, where's Mongolia again? Mongolia is sandwiched between China and Russia, smack dab in Central Asia.
What do they speak in Mongolia? Surprise, Mongolian. In the far west, where we live, the first language for most is Kazakh, but most people in our city speak Mongolian. How big is Mongolia? Bayan-Olgii? Mongolia has about 2 million people, about half of whom live in the capital city, Ulaan Baatar. There are about 18,000 people in Olgii city, 90,000 in the aimag. What is the weather like?
